Rules of Play

Basic rules of play:

  1. Coin flip determines which team receives first serve. Subsequent serves are alternated after each score.
  2. Score - A ball entering the goal and returning to the playfield is counted as a goal. A goal can be scored from any position on the table (3-bar, 5-bar, 2-bar or goalie)
  3. Spinning of the rods is not allowed.
  4. Have fun!!! Foosball is fun at all skill levels.

Tournament FAQ:

  • How do I enter? Tournaments are open to any and all players. You do not ever have to had entered a tournament before. Sign-up is at 9:00, entry fee is $6. Find our tournament director (the player with the clip-board) and tell him you'd like to enter; or, ask someone for help.
  • Do I need a partner?: No. Tournaments are Draw Your Partner (DYP) format. Players are arranged by skill levels A & B, then randomly matched for partners.
  • What do I need to bring?: Nothing. Some people like to bring: gloves, antiperspirant (for their hands) or other things to improve their grip on the handles. There is a change machine located in the tournament room, so no need to stock up on quarters.
  • What are the rules?: See above.
  • Can I watch?: Yes! You'd be amazed how much you'll learn by simply watching the various skill levels along with the great speed, finesse and power some player possess.
  • I just like to play for fun, why should I enter?: Because, regardless of your skill level, tournaments are an incredible amount of fun. People who come to tournaments are those who love foosball and meeting new people. People are playing before and after the tournament and will be glad to show you how to take your game to the next level.
  • I usually play on a different type of table: Then maybe it's the challenge of trying something new that you'll love. Similar skills are required no matter what brand of table you normally play on. Everyone will be happy to show you some tips to make your transition as smooth as possible.

 

Friday night tournament stuff:

  • $6.00 entry fee ($1 goes to Powerkick fund)
  • Entry fee waived for first time players
  • Entry fee waived for player bringing first time player
  • Payout for 1st and 2nd places
  • 20% of entry fees collected goes to Powerkick fund
  • $100 first place payout once a month (random,unannounced weekends)
  • If your partner leaves the tournament before being eliminated then you are able to choose your new partner from those already eliminated from the tournament
  • Players who score a goal by ariel shot during a match will get $10 ("mens rea" in effect)
  • Top 2 yearly attendance leaders will get a cash bonus; 1st - $100, 2nd - $50
  • Top 4 yearly points leaders will play a $100 match during the Holiday Party. 1 and 3 vs. 2 and 4
  • Players attending 20 or more Friday Night DYP's will receive $20 at the Holiday Party

 

How Friday night points are acquired, new for 2008:

  • 10 points for 1st place, 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd, 4 for 4th, 3 for 5th/6th and 2 for everything else

How Friday night points were acquired, 2004 - 2007:

  • Each match is 2 out of 3 games to 5 goals
  • 5 points awarded for each match won
  • 2 points awarded for each match lost
  • 1st place team receives 5 bonus points
